Charcoal and Shellac

Charcoal and Shellac with Lizzie Connor will be based on working with both compressed and willowstick charcoal and white pastel which will be used in a layering process with shellack. The use of the charcoal layers will allow students to really work on strong contrasts and textures with the charcoals and eraser.  The eraser is used to create textures, to blend and to shape, and using the shellac to create some very unusual effects by using it over the charcoal in different ways.  Highlights will be added as a final layer with white, soft pastel.
